Sew relaxing...

On Friday I spent the day crafting with three good friends. We got out the melt pots, bees wax, paints, canvas, inks and stamps. We took inspiration from Hels Sheridan article in the March issue of Craft Stamper 'Buzzing for Beeswax'

I have used a large canvas approx 14" x 18" with four small canvases attached in varying sizes.

I applied Traditional Tan acrylic paint to all canvases using a baby wipe. Over the top I added a mixed of Sky Blue and Blank Canvas to soften added here and there. Lines of Sable Brown with the edge of a card. While the paint was drying I cut pieces of white gift tissue to fit each canvas and stamped using assorted sewing themed stamps with Timber Brown StazOn.

I attached the tissue to the canvas using melted natural beeswax. I find the smell of melted beeswax very relaxing.

When the wax was cold I buffed up with a soft cloth, this gives the project a lovely shine. The deeper the wax the better the shine. All the canvases are edged with Old Gold Inka Gold. I have then attached various bits and bobs from my sewing box to finish off including some sewing feet, bobbins and shuttles from an old sewing machines.

I will take a picture of the whole project tomorrow as today's pic is very poor so not loading it.
Hope you are all having a relaxing week end.

Happy Crafting Lynne x

  2. Lynne that is gorgeous - I was only reading that article this evening thinking how great it is! I don't have a meltpot and still can't make my mind up whether I'd use it enough but I do love seeing peoples creations with it - maybe one day! I love your colour scheme as well, really calming and 'vintage' looking!

Hope you've had a great weekend
